Hello, Everyone!
This week we can add add one 15,000 ton Mediterranian Sea oil spill to the wreckage that is still the historic country of Lebanon. Israeli jets attacked a storage tank at a Lebanese power plant. The spill has affected more than 100 kilometers of the Lebanese coast. “The spill could affect the health and livlihood of the Lebanese as well as the status of the marine environment in the region.” The spill could reach Greece, Turkey and Cypress! Let’s hear it for wars and environmental destruction!!! Let’s hear it for completely obliterating countries full of millions of people as well as marine and land animals!! Fill the skies with smoke, fill the seas with oil!!! that’s what reasonable people do! We have to make the world safe right? If we bomb millions of people then they’ll understand that we are all peaceful people and they should follow our lead! Is that what I’m to understand? good. Now I understand.
Anyway, before I start talking about other things that are biting my nards I’ll mention, once again, that our market in Central Park, Winnipeg will be going again this weekend. There will be dancers from El Salvador as well as our usual does of “world music” and good times. If you feel the need to buy a nice African dress or some stuff from Guatemala we got the best in town. Never do I leave Central Park with out having one heck of a good time under my belt.
The Winnipeg Sun and Mayor Sam “Uglyman” Katz have both pathetically tried to say that the “Critical Mass” bike riders held up an ambulance during last fridays bike parade here in Fartzville. Yeah, if “held up” means “got out of the way right away.” So many times in this band we have witnessed things first hand and then seen the paper twist it into something different. It does not give us much hope or faith in the “press” that is for sure. Anyway. Once again Winnipeggers have something to cry about while they’re listening to the radio in their S.U.V.’s. The Sun story can occupy their little brains while they’re holding up traffic, as well as ambulances in their nightly traffic jam ritual.
Finally, Some weirdo made this funny video for, “Superbowl Patriot”, one of the wackier songs off our latest record. Enjoy!… Then go back to thinking about that oil spill…..

Two worlds Colliding. – Check out this movie 'Two World's Colliding' from the National Film Board Of Canada. This documentary chronicles the story of Darrell Night, a Native man who was dumped by 2 police officers in -20° C temperatures in a barren field on the outskirts of Saskatoon in January 2000. He found shelter at a nearby power station and survived the ordeal, but he was stunned to hear that the frozen body of another Aboriginal man was discovered in the same area. Days later, another victim, also Native, was found.
This film is an inquiry into what came to be known as Saskatoon's infamous "freezing deaths," and the schism between a fearful, mistrustful Aboriginal community and a police force that must come to terms with a shocking secret. (09/14/11 by The Rod #)
