It's a cold one out there today!
Hola!
Today is a good day for a post!
First of all I'd like to thank anyone who pledged us in the Run For Rights a couple months ago. The last of the donations are coming in. Today Chris dropped off two last cheques for the Welcome Place from the nice people, Ryan Patey, and Miss A. L. Farell. Thanks a lot, Pledgers!
Speaking of the Welcome Place, they are helping this weekend in The Central Park Revival Party! It should be fun, except for the fact that I think I have to get up at 7:30 AM to help set up. It's from 11:00 to 5:00 in Winnipegs Central Park. There will be bands playing, , games etc.. It should be cool. The point of it is to have people come together to create a safe, prosperous park once again. The International Market will continue through the day as well so if you've ever been interested in handmade stuff from Kenya, and Somalia or interested in handwoven Somalian, or Burmese fabrics. Or perhaps, if you are a man, you can get the five hairs left of your quarterhead braided by some Liberian ladies! come on down!!!
Since one thing leads to the next and we're talking about Liberian ladies, I'd like to mention that the company DynCorp has been contracted by the United States government to help "reform" the devastated country of Liberia. Dyncorp has had allegations of human rights abuses committed by it's employees including,"buying illegal weapons in Kosovo, causing herbicide related illness and death in Ecuador, participating in sex trafficking in Bosnia, and corruption in Afghanistan and and Iraq!" Who cares what the people want, let the U.S.government decide!Oh yeah, did I mention, "Shares ( in the company) have soared to an all-time high!"!!
Since Iraq was included in the last paragraph. Did you hear two days ago the United States government decided Iraq might not be suitable for democracy? Meaning, if the people don't vote for who the U.S. wants to win in the new Democracy then they are not fit for democracy!
Check out the Amazing "blogger" code named "Riverbend" she has been on the internet blogging about the reality of life in Iraq under the U.S. occupation. She also has an amazing book out called Baghdad Burning. It's put out by The Feminist Press. Check it out!!!
Did you see the extremely intelligent U.S. solution to problems in the middle east? Sell 20 billion dollars worth of arms to Saudi Arabia!! Why didn't somebody else think of that? Arming countries to the teeth to stop wars It's worked all over the world for years!
And finally, I'd like to thank the guy who emailed about my, "complaining" for inspiring me to complain more. haha... Hey, it's a screwed up world. Someones gotta say something, don't they? I could sit here and talk about my carpet, My spool of string, or my Death "Scream Bloody Gore" poster, that rules, but I choose to talk about a few things that are going on outside of this basement.
Take care!
