protest canadian state sponsored terrorism in haiti, nov.12-20 across canada!!

this chapter in the relentless multi-century (neo)colonial onslaught on haiti involves paul martin and jacques chirac eating out george w. bush’s ass while an illegally installed puppet régime facilitates mega-theft for the rich, while again, beating down the poor. i live for the day when pigface martin, pierre pettigrew and co. are put on trial for crimes against humanity.…we’re either with the terrorists, or we’re against them.…that’s what i’m talkin’ abooot. The Winnipeg branch of Canada Haiti Action Network (CHAN-Winnipeg) and supporters will be at the RCMP headquarters at 1091 Portage Ave. as part of a national week of action in cities across Canada in solidarity with the people of Haiti. Originally scheduled to coincide with the Haitian national elections that had been set for Nov. 20th but which have since been postponed to Dec. of this year, the public events being organised across the country aim to raise awareness of Canada’s complicity in the catastrophic human rights situation in Haiti right now. RCMP headquarters was chosen as the location for the action in Winnipeg on Saturday because Canada, along with four other nations, is aiding Haiti with about 100 RCMP officers in the mission called CIVPOL. They are to back-up and supervise the larger numbered and corrupt Haiti National Police, who are carrying out the violent repression being employed to defend the government that was installed through the coup d’état orchestrated by the governments of Canada, France and the US in Feb. 2004. Across Canada, planned events include a march on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on November 12th, film screenings, reports from journalists who’ve worked on the ground in Haiti, leafleting on the street, and an international day of action on Nov. 18th. We are demanding that the Government of Canada: * Withdraw the support of Elections Canada and all other bodies from any elections held under current conditions of repression, which include hundreds of political prisoners, police killings and terror, and the exclusion of the poor from participation; * Demand the immediate release of Amnesty International prisoner of conscience Father ©rard Jean-Juste, former Prime Minister Yvon Neptune, the folksinger Annette Sò Ann” Auguste, and all other political prisoners; * Discontinue all RCMP training and logistical support for the human rights-abusing Haitian National Police, and withdraw all Canadian logistical support for the UN peacekeeping” mission-turned repression operation; * Announce Canada’s support for the position of the governments of the Caribbean community countries (CARICOM) and the African Union, both of which are demanding an investigation into the circumstances of President Aristide’s removal; * Withdraw and withhold recognition of Haiti’s coup government until President Aristide is returned to oversee the holding of fair elections without repression. visit the link below for protest actions across canada this upcoming week:

Post-Gaza Realities

United Jewish People’s Order and Canadian Jewish Outlook present

POST-GAZA REALITIES: is there a way out of the conflict?

A public meeting with JEFF HALPER (Co-ordinator, Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions)

Thurs, November 10 7:30pm Planetarium Auditorium 190 Rupert Ave (at Main St) Admission: $5 The hype surrounding Sharon’s disengagement” from Gaza has raised expectations that peace is on the way. This disregards — even conceals — other disquieting elements: Israel continues to build and expand settlements so as to foreclose the possibility of a viable Palestinian state; the US has formally recognized Israel’s expansion into East Jerusalem and the West Bank; and the Road Map, the international community’s only diplomatic initiative, remains moribund. This presentation by Jeff Halper, a leading figure in the Israeli peace movement, describes current realities on the ground” and possible scenarios for achieving a just peace: the two-state solution, a one-state solution or a regional confederation. Dr Halper will also be presenting: Post-Gaza Realities Wed, Nov 9, 12:30 — 1:20pm Room 1L11 University of Winnipeg Reframing the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: A Problem of Security and Terrorism or Human Rights? Trouble in the Barnyard

The strange, aging weirdo who does our live sound has a name. It is Mark the barnyard” Chaplin. He is also the house sound-guy at The Zoo. Someone stole a bunch of his gear off the stage there a couple weeks ago, including a Yamaha 2404 II Mixer and 3 Yorkville TX2M Monitors. If you have any information on this stuff, contact Mark (2042918423). There is a reward: $1000

New site, record out!

Hello, everybody. I hope you like the new webpage our goody buddy Hoggy made for us!! Today is the release of our new record Potemkin City Limits” which would be really exciting if everyone didn’t already have it jagged off the internet. Haha … So far the response has been really great give or take a few dweebs. One particular fellow rated the new record less than a fart”. Which in my world is not good because I hate farts but in Jord’s world that is a really good rating because he LOVES farts! I don’t know what to think about that assessment.

We are going on tour from November 18th to December 12th (check out the shows” page) Hopefully we’ll see you there and you’ll be ready to rock. I have been nimbly dancing my bum-fingers up and down my bass-neck for hours getting ready for this one. We are going to be tearing up that stage with our teeth.

New Propagandhi guitarist Glen has been acting very strange lately. I don’t know what it is. That last dweeb (Hairy Hannah) gave me the creeps and Glen is following a little too close in his footsteps. I’m not sure what to expect on this upcoming tour. One of Glens neighbors said they saw him scurrying down the ally in a housecoat and green leotards. Apparently, his eyes were darting back and forth quickly as he ate the edge crust off of a pizza. Don’t worry though, I’m going to have a talk with him and make sure he can hold it together for the tour.

Other than that I will be interviewing Ross from the ruling band IMMOLATION for Wonka Vision” magazine. I was asked to interview a band that I thought put out the record of the year. The record this year is Immolation’s Harnessing Ruin”. I have spent many a day deciding whether or not to crawl into the river and drown myself once and for all while listening to this artistic rendering of hell on earth.

And finally check out some addittions to the other parts of our newly renovated website.

I hope you enjoy the new record. We put a lot of heart and effort into it. Take care, and keep on thrashing!!!!

Canada out of Haiti, farts, etc ...

Chelios,

I have a couple of things to announce, most importantly this here book launch for anyone around the winnipeg area to consider attending. This promises to be very informative, and I’m sure most of us out there would indeed be surprised at the scale of canadian bullshit being forced upon the poor peoples of haiti.

Come on out!! Refreshments following discussion!

Book Launch — Canada in Haiti: Waging War On The Poor Majority

October 20th, 2005, 7 PM, 91 albert street, 3rd floor $5 or pay what you can

Presentation and video with authors Yves Engler and Anthony Fenton followed by a discussion.

Behind the mask humanitarianism, canada is carrying out a murderous and destructive foreign policy in haiti. At every turn, canada has declined opportunities to uphold democracy in haiti, while taking the lead in overthrowing the country’s democratically elected government and legitimizing a power grab by haiti’s wealthy elite.

See the event poster here.

A new type of solidarity movement is emerging out of a growing awareness of the policies that are being carried out in haiti, policies that can only be described as genocidal. All of the western powers share a history of genocidal conquest. Ironically, this process began on the very island that haitians occupy, in 1492. It should enrage but not surprise us that governments such as canada and the united states, who have perfected the means of internal colonization through the subjugation and dehumanization of indigenous people, should export these methods to haiti. Our role is to understand these realities and devise ways to dismantle them. (Anthony Fenton)

Secondly, am item of much less political flavour, yet something I feel obligated to expose in the simple name of truth.

It has come to my attention that our bass player toddy (pigpen) kowalski, has mentioned on city-wide radio last night, that I outfarted Bill Stevenson” during our mix dates in fort collins, co this past july.

Apparently, Bill is the godfather of farting in the music world.

The truth of the matter is Bill was literally blown away at todd’s seemingly limitless resevoir of intestinal gas. Anyone who knows todd, who happens to be a male member of our pathetic species (he actually manages to hold his gas around females for some reason, then blows around the horizon like an untied balloon once he’s alone or exclusively in the company of other spatter-faced unlucky and groaning men) will be able to back my claims.

Claims like todd is the canadian king of farts.

Claims that todd’s favourite joke in the world is farting and then blaming them on others.

Little does todd know, that during his incredible fort collins anal performance, chris and I happened to overhear a private conversation in which Bill Stevenson, punk rock fart god he is, approached todd with this comment:

yeah man, it’s kinda weird. With your farting and stuff.….I’ve never met anyone else like you before. I thought I was alone in this world.”

Yup. We were in the alcove next to the kitchenette discussing sequencing ideas when this happened.

If anyone feels the need to corroborate my claims, please feel free to email Bill at bill@blastingroomstudios.com.

the proof is in todd’s everflowing pudding. I tire of having his pudding being slapped on my face. People who fart and blame it on others, are simply put, posers.

Fart posers.

Todd kowalski is thee pre-eminent fart poseur.

Thank you for your time, I feel much better cleaning this off my chest.

Albright Monument, Winnipeg

Hey goofs.

Students, peace activists, faith community members, Aboriginal leadership and others will gather this Sunday, October 16, beginning at 9:00 am â” at or near the University of Winnipeg’s fall convocation venue (The Duckworth Centre: Athletic and Recreational Facility) â” in protest of the University of Winnipeg’s decision to convey the honourary degree of Doctor of Laws upon former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

While U.S. Secretary of State under the Clinton Administration, Madeleine Albright accelerated despicable acts of state terror against the peoples of Iraq through aid, food and medical-services delivery embargoes, resultingin the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children and countless others.

Albright was also a chief backer of the 1999 bombing of the former Yugoslavia under NATO auspices. A façade of humanitarian intervention, the U.S.-led NATO attack was, in fact, motivated more towards greater imperial control over the geo-politically strategic region, which served to only worsen the genocidal clash between Albanians and Serbs on the ground.

University of Winnipeg graduates are right to denounce the receipt of this degree to one such as Albright,” says University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA) Vice-President Student Services Andriy Michalchyshyn. This degree granting,” adds Michalchyshyn, mars the successes achieved by our graduates — many of whom are convocating with standings in peace, international politics and conflict resolution studies.”

Adds protest organizing committee member Krishna Lalbiharie: Of the over 500,000 deaths of children and others accrued through the U.S.-led aid-injunction against Iraq, Albright blithely responded to 60 Minutes journalist Lesley Stahl, some nine years ago, that while she thought it a very hard choice, … the price … [was] worth it.”” (60 Minutes, May 121996).

In conferring this degree, the Lloyd Axworthy-led University of Winnipeg’s message is regrettably clear: human toil, snuff and slaughter is the stuff of academic reaching,” Lalbiharie surmises.
